Changdao Archipelago in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, often hailed as the "Most Beautiful Island in China", is captivating the hearts and minds of countless individuals as it endeavors to achieve a 5A rating — the highest rating granted to Chinese tourist destinations.
Also known as the Miaodao Islands, Changdao is located at the confluence of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, comprising 151 islands including North and South Changshan Islands, with a total land area of 61.16 square kilometers. Positioned along a major bird migration route, the archipelago boasts a 60 percent forest coverage rate, with eco-friendly fisheries and tourism serving as its primary industries.
In preparation for the upcoming evaluation in August this year, local authorities are actively implementing measures to enhance the island's tourism offerings. Visitors and tourism professionals on the island have also been invited to help create a harmonious tourism environment on Changdao.
In 2021, Yantai took the pioneering step of proposing Changdao as an "International Zero-Carbon Island". In recent years, the region has achieved numerous milestones in the development of modern marine fisheries, green energy, and low-carbon tourism. Designation as a national 5A-level tourist area will significantly boost its reputation, drive economic development, and inject strong impetus into the local economy.
